ICIOS’s origins, vision, and mission
ICIOS Origin
Since Ifa embodies more Spiritual values than religion, we have decided to transition from the International Council for Ifa Religion (ICIR) to the INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS FOR IFA/ORISA SPIRITUALITY. The International Congress for Ifa and Orisa Spirituality is not a new platform. It was registered in October 2017 with the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
However, the Founding Fathers agreed to hibernate it while pre-empting the possibility of its full activation as an intervention against any future conflict that might arise as a result of divergence of thoughts and ideology. As time went by, the divergence became stronger and a precursor to conflict. However, earlier this year, the elders thought it wise to unveil ICIOS as a veritable means to build a global family where everyone is happy, hopeful, and compassionate with each other.
Furthermore, the idea behind ICIOS was to lay the foundation for an all-inclusive and true IFA/Orisa Pilgrimage where people from all walks of life will converge in designated sacred places in Yoruba land to venerate Olódùmarè through the Orisas such as Orunmila, Ogun, Èṣù, Osun, Osanyin, etc.
Vision Of ICIOS
To develop Ifa and Orisa Spirituality to be at par with all other contemporary Spiritual Organizations on Earth and to demonstrate that Ifa and Orisa have more to contribute to the development of the world and peaceful co-existence of Humanity on earth than all the others.
